Final Project: Habitat “Floating Leaves”

“Floating Leaves” is a kind of shelter which is designed for expressing the feeling of silent, relax and quiet. More importantly, it is designed to fit a person body’s dimension only. The scale of the project is 1:5. After a long process of analyzing site in Kirirom Resort, we decided to float it on the pone nearby the waterfall. “Floating Leaves” is inspired by leaves as the name suggested. Besides, the idea of producing dynamic structure is due to the movement of the leaves in the forest at the site. Imagine that you were sitting on that soft and comfortable chair. On your right hand side, there is a big opening which is functioned as an entrance. The opening faces to west where you can see the boundless pone with fantastic scenery. Since it is designed for silent mood, the left hand side which faces to crowds of people, will be blocked by the wall. However, there are some holes which are used for cross-ventilation and natural lighting. Passive design is mainly used in the project. As it can be seen that, double-layer walls have been used to absorb heat and avoid direct sunlight. Once again, on the top of the shelter, there is a piece of glass which is used to reduce glaze and direct sunlight as well. Moreover, Blue and white have been used mainly since it indicates the reflection of the leaves on the water. In short, the main purpose of this project is to connect design and nature and to show the interrelationship between site analysis and the design.
